III. Grand Master Huen-Yuan leads Weixinism for world peace. 5.Holding forums for Cross-Strait cultural communication and senior official talks. Establishing platforms for the development of peace between Taiwan and Mainland China and throughout the world. The development of world peace depends on the success of peace promotion work at the regional level. Promoting Cross-Strait (Taiwan – Mainland China) peace is a crucial cornerstone of peaceful reconciliation in Asia. Chinese culture is a culture of peace. Taiwan and Mainland China must propagate peace together in order to form the foundations of world peace. Weixinism promotes the essence of Chinese culture. Grand Master Huen-Yuan founded Yi-Ching University to enhance the transmission of culture through formal education. He encourages all his lecturers to dedicate themselves to academic research that bolsters the truth of Yi and Feng Shui in order that such can be written down and passed on to our descendants in order to bring about Peace culture and ensure that Yi-Ching and Feng Shui continue to be sustained and popularized. Since 2001, the Grand Master has held the annual “Cross-Strait Academic Cultural Communication on Bodhisattva Wang Chan Lao Zu Study” convention. He has also participated in several senior level Cross-Strait talks, which has contributed enormously to the development of peace between Taiwan and Mainland China. On June 24th, 2001, Master Huen-Yuan stated in the first convention, “There is no problem between Taiwan and China. If there was any problem, it would be that of war and peace. War and peace are two different states. The boundary between Taiwan and China has merely been a very small one in the five thousand years of Chinese history. All the Chinese comrades as well as the Chinese people in Taiwan are the descendants of Three Great Chinese Ancestors…. Therefore, we can say that today we carry together the spirit of the Chinese. We are all progeny of the Yan and Yellow Emperors. We are not divided. We are one family.” He also remarked, “Holding this convention lets us meet friends through Dharma and create a starting point for mutual communication. ‘Unity’ is Yi. Yi is the exchange of hearts and thoughts, ideals and compassion. Remember, Taiwan and China come from the same origin. We are family. The Bodhisattva Wang Chan Lao Zu academic research groups in Taiwan and China shall help to ensure the glory of love shines on all lands and to every corner of the world based on equality, mutual trust, love, and reciprocal action.” On October 21st , 2005, Grand Master Huen-Yuan announced the foundation of the “Nan-Tian Cultural Association”. Since 2006, a series of forums on advanced Chinese culture and seminars on humanities has been held. Forums sponsored in this series include “The Three-Great-Chinese-Ancestors Culture Forum,” “The Advanced Yi-Ching and Feng Shui of Architecture Forum for Chinese Worldwide,” “The Advanced Yi-Ching and Feng Shui in Architecture and World Peace Development Forum,” and “The Vision of World Peace Seminar”. The Grand Master also leads his disciples to participate in international conferences and promote Yi-Ching and Feng Shui. The essential spirit of these advanced Weixinism forums is to restore the ancient culture and wisdom of our Chinese sages. Forums also promote affection for this unique ethnicity and culture in the hearts of Chinese today. Most importantly, forums propagate traditional Chinese moral values and foster Cross-Strait and world peace. The first “Yan Emperor, Yellow Emperor and Chi-You Civilization Forum” was held on July 30th, 2006 at Tunghai University in Taichung, Taiwan. Grand Master Huen-Yuan, commenting on his motivation for holding these forums, said, “We shall commence another five thousand years of luminosity for the Chinese culture. We should look more carefully into the past and the future with devout hearts. Our religion is making many friends through the wonderful methods of Yi-Ching and Feng Shui. It is the truth of Tao. As our school applies to daily life the essence of the ancient wisdom embodied in the Hundred Schools of Thought, we explore and discuss the cultural heritage bequeathed from our ancestors …. Today, this forum is an opportunity for Weixinism to trace our origins. It is a start for our school as well as the realization of a hearty wish. Together, we will shoulder the responsibility to promote our cultural orthodoxy lineage.” He also remarked, “Holding such forums develop inner, hidden supreme wisdom …. Every chapter of our religious Dharma that we teach helps people become great and intelligent. Our approach consists of the ancient culture of Fu Xi and the Three Great Chinese Ancestors. The reason is to build a connection with our roots. These forums put us in touch with the heart of our great ancestors. We can achieve tangible world peace through intangible, inner world peace.” “The Advanced Yi-Ching and Feng Shui of Architecture Forum for Chinese Worldwide ” was held on July 7th and 8th, 2007. The 54 papers delivered at the forum focused primarily on Yi-Ching and Feng Shui theories, applications and proofs. The lively event was widely praised and appreciated by the experts and scholars who participated. Grand Master Huen-Yuan instructed, “We have invited local and international experts and scholars to participate in this event to raise their understanding and awareness of the unique aspects of our wonderful ancestral virtues. The Chinese shall be reunited because all Chinese worldwide are descendants of the Yan and Yellow Emperors. For the good of the entire Chinese nation, we must familiarize ourselves with our great origins…. We humbly invite our colleagues and friends in Mainland China to join us to explore the essence of Chinese culture together….. Empirical studies done by many scholars have shown that safety and security for every family is essential to world peace. Security and success in one’s business and career is also the foundation of social harmony and peaceful relations. Thus, orthodox Yi-Ching and Feng Shui and proper architectural planning can provide a base of world peace.” “The Advanced Yi-Ching and Feng Shui in Architecture and World Peace Development Forum” was held on August 30th and 31st, 2008. Its purpose was to reconstruct a “Pure Land on Earth” and promote world peace based on orthodox Yi-Ching and Feng Shui in combination with architectural aesthetics. Grand Master Huen-Yuan delivered a keynote speech on Yi-Ching and Feng Shui architecture and world peace development at the event, emphasizing the importance of this topic to the future of all mankind. He remarked that, “Yi-Ching, Feng Shui, and architecture all had their origins in the same system. Their fundamental rules are derived from the five elements, which correspond to the eyes, ears, nose, tongue and body. Hence, world peace will be difficult indeed without the support of proper Feng Shui. The Chinese legacy of Yi-Ching and Feng Shui can greatly influence people. We hope to spread correct knowledge through this convention, to share its merits, and to pray together for world peace. Furthermore, we wish that all the world’s 6.4 billion people may achieve enlightenment through the glory of Chinese culture and live in societies and countries in health and stability. Our school integrates the Hundred Schools of Chinese Thought and practices such in our daily lives. A “Square Flag” is used to represent our School. “Square” stands for peace. Our school expounds the Chinese orthodoxy lineage of Yi-Ching and Feng Shui, which is crucial for human future and world peace. These two fields are really the study of our environment, and social disorder and national instability have their roots in the dislocation of Feng Shui. Yi-Ching and Feng Shui studies are destined to become an increasingly important contributor to world peace during the 21st century. In addition to education, we should also pay more attention to promoting Yi-Ching and Feng Shui for world harmony today and tomorrow. Through the awareness of both causes and effects, the world will find comfort and peace.” On November 5th of 2009, Grand Master Huen-Yuan held the first “Academic and Cultural Communication of Bodhisattva Wang Chan Lao Zu Study” convention in the City of Eight Trigrams on Yunmeng Mountain in Qi County, Henan Province, Mainland China. Master Huen-Yuan said, “This is the optimal moment for Cross-Strait cultural communication. It is a time for us all to gather again on Yunmeng Mountain in an alternative form, in another time and space, with our hearts and hands joined together as one ... Our school is researching in Taiwan the essence of Yi, the proper Dharma doctrines of Feng Shui, the core of alchemy, and the Hundreds Schools of Thought. Twelve years ago, we came here to seek out our origin and founded the City of Eight Trigrams on Yunmeng Mountain. Chinese will be reunited in the future. I wish everyone will support the creation of a cultural melting pot as well as a bridge and platform for future Cross-Strait harmony and communications.” Master Huen-Yuan’s words clearly express his affection for the people of Mainland China as well as his loving heart. His contributions and efforts toward building positive bridges across the Taiwan Strait and attaining universal peace are strongly evident as well. On September 5th, 2006, Grand Master Huen-Yuan chaired the “International Yi Instructors and Religious Architecture Feng Shui Forum”, at which he delivered a speech entitled, “The Architecture of Buddhist/ Religious Temples as it Relates to Yi-Ching and Feng Shui”. He stressed the importance of well-built temple foundations, as such influences significantly the promotion of Dharma and improving the life of the living. In his lecture, he proposed seventy key Yi-Ching and Feng Shui principles that architects should follow in the design and construction of temples. In addition, he explained that, “The manner by which Yi-Ching and Feng Shui complement one another and achieve perfection together is known as Zhou Yi (周易), or the ‘way to world peace’.” He continued, “So that we all may share the same ideals for world peace, I pray that everyone will activate Bodhicitta - the longing to become a Buddha - and employ proper Yi-Ching and Feng Shui rules in the construction of temples and religious buildings. We do this to save mankind. We open people's hearts, and foster the building of many thousands of “inner temples” within the faithful - reorienting them as guiding stars for world peace.” Grand Master Huen-Yuan, not only calls for universal harmony, he follows the way to achieve it. He is a religious practitioner whose knowledge and actions are one, and is an extraordinary practitioner of Yi. He contributes a great deal to world peace and to its expansion in both tangible and intangible ways. |
